Why Golf?

Experiences are our greatest teacher. First Tee believes in developing the ones that are just as fun as they are meaningful, where kids feel excited to grow, safe to fail, and better equipped for whatever comes their way next. Through our personal growth and junior golf programs, we see kids’ build self confidence, inspiring more active participation in leadership opportunities and events, community involvement, and college scholarships.

First Tee—Central Carolina utilizes the game of golf to teach kids (Ages 7-18) essential character traits and valuable life skills. Our program hinges on First Tee’s Code of Conduct: Respect for Myself, Others, and Surroundings. Using this as our cornerstone, kids participate in creative and engaging golf games that teach:

Core Values
Healthy Habits
Life Skills

A majority of classes are held once-a-week (after school), during the Spring and Fall seasons, from 4:30 pm- 6:00 pm for 8 consecutive weeks. We have convenient locations in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Clemmons, Jamestown, High Point, Burlington, Lexington, Salisbury, Asheville, and Hendersonville. In addition to after school classes, during the summer months we offer camps, one day clinics, tournaments and more.

All participants, regardless of age or golf skill start at the PLAYer (introduction) Level. Our chapter also has a program specifically created for Girls interested in learning the game of golf, as well as a Teen program, designed for youth 12 years and up, who are typically either new to the game or just getting started. From there, participants can advance to higher levels (Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace) based on their: age, successful completion of assessments, and the demonstration of Golf Skills and Life Skills covered throughout the program.
